Survey of the 2012 Global Pharmacy Support Workforce Review for Non-Pharmacist Roles (University of Canberra, Australia)

The Faculty of Health – Discipline of Pharmacy University of Canberra, Australia is looking for participations in the survey of the 2012 Global Pharmacy Support Workforce Review for Non-Pharmacist Roles. This survey provides an opportunity for professionals to give vital input to inform the future planning requirements needed to ensure an effective international workforce.

In low income countries, the shortage of pharmacists has required other health workers to have extended responsibilities. In developed countries pharmacists working with capable support staff have more time for clinical activities. This survey will examine the size and variety of roles in the Pharmacy Support Workforce, including the expected responsibilities, education/training requirements, accreditation and registration.

The survey will take around 20 minutes to complete and will be closed on the 9th April. To gain access to the survey online, please click HERE or HERE (for slow or intermittent internet connection). For more information, please contact Assistant Professor Andrew Brown.

This manual, designed as a practical 12-step checklist, provides guidance on the selection and procurement of quality rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs) for malaria. Drawing on the results of the WHO/TDR-FIND-CDC Product Testing Programme, the manual aims to strengthen the capacity of national and international procurement officers. It covers all aspects of the procurement cycle, with special emphasis on product specifications, selection criteria for different epidemiological settings, different quantification methodologies based on malaria surveillance and consumption data, as well as quality control through lot testing.

SamaanGuru is a cell phone and internet-based inventory management tool. Remote users can enter demands (patients) and supplies using a basic cell phone. This information is available for review at varying levels using a standard internet browser. Inventory management users can make re-supply decisions on accurate, current data. The system is NOT SMS-based, and therefore can handle many commodities with built-in data quality. The software can be used wherever there is cell phone service (for data entry) and internet service (for data management).
